the osteopathy clinic - Osteopath - Hendon

3 Cheyne Walk, Hendon
London, NW4 3QH

I saw Shital following a car accident in which I suffered whip lash; suffice to say that after two treatments I am wholly restored. She was amazing, I had feared a long term intervention but she treated me so well and with such professionalism that I completely recovered. I would have no hesitation is seeing her again should I need to, nor in recommending her to other people - EK, London 2013

Acupuncture & Tui Na

Rita Shamia is an Acupuncturist and Master Tui Na practitioner (Chinese medical massage). She also specializes in Auricular Acupuncture for stress and weight-loss and Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Rita studied at the International BodyHarmonics Centre in Cheltenham and recently completed a course at the Shandong TCM University in China for Acupuncture and Tuina. She practices in North London, in Crouch End and at The Osteopathy Clinic in Hendon.

Tui Na
Tui Na is a dynamic form of medical massage that also works with meridian pathways to restore the body’s vitality and improve muscular skeletal dysfunction. Tui Na treatments take 30 minutes.

Acupuncture is an ancient medical system for modern health problems. It may be 5000 years old but it is an incredibly sophisticated holistic health treatment. Acupuncture complements and even replaces the need for Western medicine in many acute and chronic conditions.

Acupuncturists believe that the underlying principle of treatment is that illness and pain occur when the body's qi, or vital energy, cannot flow freely. There can be many reasons for this; emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, infection or injury, are among the most common.

Acupuncture needles are sterile, single use and ultra-fine and feel nothing like the sensation of an injection. After an initial, comprehensive health analysis and medical history, needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to re-establish the free flow of qi to restore balance. You relax for 40 minutes while the needles do their work. People receiving acupuncture typically feel both relaxed and energized after treatment.

Appointments last an hour, with the first appointment taking one hour, 30 minutes. When appropriate, Rita will also combine acupuncture and Tui Na into a one hour treatment.

Rita Shamia can also offer Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture and Auricular Acupuncture

Lindi is originally from South Africa and has been living in London for the past 12 years with her family and is the proud mum of two young girls.

Before pursuing a career in Nutritional Therapy, Lindi worked in Advertising for 10 years. She understands from her own experience the time pressures that a busy career and lack of sleep can place on individuals and familes. She realises the balancing act of trying to maintain your own health as a mum/parent and caring for your family as best as you can.

Lindi has always been passionate about healthy eating and exercise and particularly enjoys cooking, baking and creating healthy meals and snacks for her family.

Lindi has been running workshops for children and adults with the aim of educating them about the importance of reducing refined sugar in our daily lives and how to make better informed choices when in the supermarket and at home. She is particularly enthusiastic about children’s health and understands the struggles of fussy eaters and the stress it places on parents and families.

Lindi is passionate about supporting people through through diet, lifestyle and functional testing where neccesary to reach optimal wellbeing and help reduce the risk of disease. She recognises that every approach needs to be tailor-made to suit the individual client’s needs. During the initial consultation Lindi takes a client’s complete medical history as well a check list of all the body systems and their functions to check for any triggers or drivers that may have caused the particular condition in question. She will then look at how best to support the client as a whole rather than focussing only on specific symptoms.
